  • Look Inside

Faucial tonsillectomy in the aged patients appears to be innocent because of its atrophic finding including histological fibrosis and decrease in the number of the germinal centers. However, tonsillectomy for aged population has never been discussed. We have investigated nine cases,4.5% of tonsillectomies for the past 5 years, ranging in ages from 60 to 77 years (average,67 years). We recognized significant improvement of their symptoms in four out of 7 focal infection cases, one habitual angina case and 2 hypertrophy cases.

This clinical results reveal that tonsillectomy should be performed actively despite of the patients' age if indicated.
