  • Look Inside

We reviewed 107 new patients of Behçet disease seen by us during the 10 years through 2000. The series comprised 49 males and 58 females. The number of new patients averaged 11.6 per year during the first 5 years and 3.4 during the second 5 years. The ages of patients at their initial visit averaged 45.0 years in 1991 to linearly increase to 50.8 years in 2000. There was a gradual decrease in the rate of visual loss over 3 years after the initial visit until 1995. There was an improvement in the course of visual acuity after 1996. The frequency of ocular attacks decreased after 1996.
