喫煙の甲状腺眼症に及ぼす影響

Influence of smoking on hyperthyroid ophthalmopathy

（24C2-1）　喫煙と甲状腺眼症との関係を検索した。患者群は，甲状腺眼症と診断された102例であり，年齢は17〜77歳であった。甲状腺眼症のない102例を対照とし，性別と年齢を患者群にマッチさせた。喫煙と甲状腺眼症発症との間には相関はなかった。甲状腺眼症が重篤であるほど喫煙率が高かった。

We evaluated the possible influence of smoking on hyperthyroid ophthalmopathy (Graves' disease) in 102 patients. Their ages ranged form 17 to 77 years. The series comprised 18 males and 84 females. Another group of 102 healthy persons served as control. They were selected to show matching features as to age and sex. There was no cor-relation between smoking and hyperthyroid ophthalmopathy. There was a higher incidence of smokers in patients with more advanced ophthalmopathy.
