  • Look Inside

We performed early vitreous surgery on 8 eyes of 5 patients with Terson syndrome. Organized vitreous hemorrhage in the subhyaloid space was removed along with the internal limiting membrane in 6 eyes. No eye received lens extraction. There were no intra- or postoperative complications including epimacular membrane, macular hole or retinal detachment. All the eyes resulted in markedly improved visual acuity. These cases illustrate that recovery of vision can be expected through early vitrectomy for Terson syndrome. Early vitrectomy is recommended particularly in bilaterally cases in order to improve the quality of life in affected patients.
