  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We observed massive hemorrhage following subarachnoid hemorrhage, or Terson's syndrome, in 8 eyes in 5 patients. The fundus was not visible by ophthalmoscopy in 4 eyes when first seen. In 3 eyes treated by vitrectomy, we detected laser to sever the detached posterior hyalioid membrane,we detected macular atrophy. Visual acuity im-proved cosiderably in all the 4 eyes thus treated.

Conservative approach has been advocated in this syndrome because of its tendency to undergo spontaneous improvement. We advocate early vit-reous surgery in eyes whenever epimacular mem-brane is suspected by ultrasonography.
