We reviewed the clinical features in 34 patients with Fuchs heterochromic iridocyclitis seen from 1990 through 1999. The series comprised 16 males and 18 females. The ages averaged 35.3 years. All were unilaterally involved. All the affected eyes showed keratic precipitates and iris atrophy. Cataract was present in 25 eyes (74%), of which 21 eyes had posterior subcortical cataract. This incidence of cataract was lower than previously reported in Japan. Mild serous iritis was present in 33 eyes (97%), iris nodules in 15 eyes (44%) and rubeosis in the chamber angle in 4 eyes. Vitreous opacity was present in 27 of 32 examined eyes (84%). Visual acuity was 1.0 or more in 17 eyes and 0.1 or less in 3 eyes. Poor visual acuity was mainly due to cataract. Cataract surgery in 8 eyes resulted in favorable outcome.
