  • Look Inside

A 63-year-old male underwent systemic interferon therapy for chronic type C hepatitis. Multiple soft exudates were detected in both eyes 8 weeks after initiation of therapy. Visual acuities were intact. The visual acuity decreased to 0.2 in either eye 2 days later. Fluorescein angiography showed nonperfusion areas corresponding to the sites of soft exudates. Interferon was discontinued 2 days later according to the therapeutic regimen. Fluorescein angiography 10 weeks later showed recanalization of nonperfusion areas along with disap-pearance of soft exudates. It was presumed that the retinopathy was induced by angiospasm and deposit of immune complex on the wall of retinal vessels.
