　Mitomycin C （以下MMC）や5—fluorouracil （以下5—FU）などの線維芽細胞増殖抑制剤を用いて線維柱帯切除術を行い，術後経過を1年間以上観察しえた，28例35眼の治療成績を検討した。術前の平均眼圧は26.9mmHgで，術後1年の平均眼圧は18.1mmHgに低下し，MMCの使用例では20.1mmHg，5—FUの使用例は13.3mmHg，眼圧降下成績は良好であった。しかし，MMC使用例は通常濃度の1／2（0.02％）のMMC溶液を用いたので，眼圧降下作用はやや不良であった。角膜上皮障害と白内障の進行が術後の大きな合併症であった。

We evaluated the outcome of trabeculectomy for glaucoma using topical mitomycin C or 5 -fluorouracil in 35 eyes followed up for one year or longer. The intraocular pressure averaged 26.9mmHg before surgery and 18.1mmHg one year after surgery. It averaged 20.1mmHg after use of mitomycin C and 13.3mmHg after 5-fluorouracil. The less favorable effect of mitomycin C seemed to be due to the use of 0.02% solution instead of 0.04%. Major postsurgical complications included corneal epithelial defects and progression of cataract.
