  • Look Inside

A 51-year-old female underwent cataract surgery for both eyes. Diabetes mellitus had been detected 3 years before. Funduscopy and fluorescein angiography showed wide nonperfused area in the farthest temporal periphery associated with retinal neovascularization along the posterior border of nonper-fused zone. This case is reported as an exception to the accepted theory that peripheral type diabetic retinopathy follows a benign course. This case also illustrates that neovascularization may develop in the temporal periphery.
