  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We performed fluorescein and indocyanine green (ICG) angiography in 31 eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy. Around the site of fluorescein leakage, choroidal circulation was delayed in early-phase ICG angiogram in 27 eyes, 87%. Leakage of ICG into the subretinal space, corresponding to the site of leakage of fluorescein, was seen in 25 eyes, 81%. A major choroidal vein was located in the site of leakage in 19 eyes, 61%. Tissue staining by ICG was present in 26 eyes, 84%, in late-phase angiogram. It persisted after serous retinal detachment disappeared, either spontaneously or after photocoagulation. Multiple areas of choroidal staining were also present in unaffected areas in 68% of eyes and in 55% of fellow eyes. Above findings seemed to imply that pathological choriocapillaris or choroidal vein plays a causative role in central serous chorioretinopathy.
