We treated 10 eyes with cataract and medically uncontrolled open angle glaucoma by trabeculotomy combined with extracapsular cata-ract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. The patients were followed up for 5 to 33 months. The visual acuity improved in all the eyes after surgery. Postoperatively, the intraocular pressureremained under 15 mmHg in 9 eyes with or without medications. The visual field enlarged in 7 eyes. The mean area of corneal endothelial cells in-creased by 7.3%. The present surgical procedure thus resulted in improvements in visual acuity and intraocular pressure control without affecting the corneal endothelium.
