Abstract Purpose:To report changes in refraction following implantation of single-piece intraocular lens YP2.2R(NS1).

Cases and Method:NS1 was implanted in 56 eyes during cataract surgery. Refraction was objectively measured one week, 1 and 3 months after surgery. Length of ocular axis averaged 23.35±1.0 mm in the 56 eyes. A constant of 118.6 was used in selecting the power of intraocular lens.

Results:There was no significant change in refraction during 3 months after surgery. There was a tendency towards myopia when compared with the target value of refraction. Significant difference was present between the target and actual refraction after surgery(p<0.01). A constant was 118.28 in the present series of NS1

Conclusion:There was no significant change in refraction during 3 months after implantation of NS1. Eyes implanted with NS1 showed a tendency to be more myopic than the target value. A constant is to be determined for each new type of intraocular lens.
