Abstract Purpose:To report the outcome of intravitreal injection of anti-VEFG in eyes with diabetic macular edema.

Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 19 eyes of 14 cases who received intravitreal injection of ranibizumab or aflibercept for diabetic macular edema in the past 2 years. The series comprised 12 eyes of 9 males and 7 eyes of 5 females. The age averaged 68.4±11.8 years. Panretinal photocoagulation had been performed in 12 eyes and topical photocoagulation in 4 eyes. Visual acuity was evaluated as logMAR.

Results:Injection of anti-VEGF was performed in 2.17±1.3 sessions. Visual acuity averaged 0.41 before treatment and improved significantly for 3 months after treatment. Central retinal thickness averaged 578 μm before treatment and decreased significantly to 419 μm one year later.

Conclusion:Intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF was followed by improved visual acuity 3 months later and decreased central retinal thickness in eyes with diabetic macular edema one year later.
