Abstract Purpose: To report a case who developed multiple corneal ulcers in both eyes following short-term wear of colored cosmetic contact lens.

Case: A 16-year-old female developed pain and hyperemia in both eyes after sleep while wearing colored cosmetic contact lens. Corrected visual acuity was 0.6 in either eye when seen by us a few days later. Both eyes showed multiple ulcers along the upper corneal margin. Since treatment with antibiotics was apparently ineffective, she started receiving topical and systemic corticosteroid. The corneal ulcer started to regress on day 2 of treatment. Visual acuity improved to 1.2 in either eye 12 days later. Microscopic examination of the contact lens showed clumps of dye on the posterior surface.

Conclusion: Corneal ulcers in the present case appear to be due to direct and allergic injury by the dye in the contact lens.
