The Utility of Colimycin in the Preservation Medium of Donor Eye for Penetrating Keratoplasty

Ⅰ．緒言

　コリスチンとして命名され1950年小山氏等によつて発表された抗生剤としてのポリペプチッドはポリミキシンに近似した構造を有しているが，局所的応用面に於いて他の多くのポリペプチッド抗生剤グループを凌駕する特性を有している。又抗菌スペクトルは狭いがグラム陰性菌に対して特に効果を発揮する殺菌剤に近いものである。

　角膜移植に際して，感染症による最も憂慮すべきものは緑膿菌に起因するものであることは不幸にして事実である。

Sodium colistin-methansulfonate, a potent antibiotic for gramnegative organisms, especi-ally for prevention in pseudomonas infections, was used in the preservation medium of donor eye for penetrating keratoplasty.

Typical colonies of pseudomonas aeruginosa with other microorganisms were demonstrated in the cultures of the donor eye.

By the addition of colistin-methansulfonate with streptomycin,kanamycin and dextromycin in the medium in different stages of preser-vation resulted in marked inhidition of growth of microorganisms following clinical kerato-plasty.
