ステロイド点眼の早期切り換えのためのpranoprofen点眼液の有用性

Value of pranoprofen ophthalmic solution after early withdrawal of topical corticosteroid in uveitis

　ステロイド点眼は副作用が多く，使用量を最小限にとどめたい。ぶどう膜炎を対象としてステロイド点眼を早期に中止し，プロスタグランディン産生抑制作用のある抗炎症剤pranoprofen点眼液に切り換えて経過を観察し，その有用性を調べた。全18症例中，極めて有用が2例，有用が14例，やや有用は1例，有用と思わないが1例，好ましくないは0であった。有用以上は16例で89％の有用率であった。

　この事実よりpranoprofen点眼液を用いることにより，ステロイド点眼の早期中止が可能であることを確認した。ただ副作用と疑われるごく軽度の片眼性眼瞼炎が1例に見られたが，容易に治癒した。

We evaluated the efficacy of ophthalmic solution of 0.1% pranoprofen, a prostaglandin inhibitor, in preventing recurrence after discontinuation of topi-cal corticosteroid in uveitis. Pranoprofen was in-stilled 4 times daily for 2 to 4 weeks immediately after withdrawal of corticosteroid in 18 patients either with chronic uveitis or with acute anterior uveitis. The treatment was judged as very effective in 2, effective in 14, fairly effective in 1 and equivo-cal in 1. There was no flare-up of anterior uveitis during the period of observation. The rate of effec-tiveness was, therefore, 16 out of 18 cases or 89%. Our findings seem to indicate that the duration of topical corticosteroid therapy can be shortened by early discontinuation and substitution by prano-profen ophthalmic solution.
