  • Look Inside

A 14-year-old male presented with decreased vision in the left eye following sustained anorexia and general debility. In the left eye, we detected keratic precipitates and cells with flares in the anterior chamber. Funduscopy showed a whitish lesion supeiror to the macula in the right eye. In the left eye, the disc was swollen with numerous newly formed vessels as well as extensive retinal edema involving the macula with star-shaped deposits and periphlebitis in the periphery. The visual acuity was 1.2 right and 0.1 left.

One month later, vitreous hemorrhage developed in the left eye with reduction of vision to 0.02.Diagnosis of ornitosis was established by means of complement fixation test and fluorescent antibody test using Chlamydia psittaci.

Systemic minocycline led to recovery of vision to 1.2. No recurrences have been observed during the follow-up period of 12 months.
