心臓粘液腫に併発した網膜中心動脈閉塞症

Central retinal artery occlusion associated with cardiac myxoma

　脳梗塞発作の6カ月後に左網膜中心動脈閉塞症を生じた38歳女性症例を報告した．心エコー検査にて，心臓粘液腫が発見され，外科的に腫瘍を摘出した．心臓粘液腫に併発する網膜中心動脈閉塞症の臨床特徴をまとめ，さらに若年者に発生した網膜中心動脈閉塞症では，原因として心臓粘液腫も念頭において精査すべき点を強調した．

A 38-year-old female developed a typical attack of central retinal artery occlusion in her left eye. Six months before, she had suffered from a cerebral stroke, diagnosed as occlusion of left medial cerebral artery. Routine physical and laboratory examinations showed normal findings except for right ventricular hypertro-phy shown by electrocardiogram. Successive examina-tions led to the detection of a left intra-artrial tumor.The tumor was successfully resected by surgery and was shown to be a cardic myxoma.

Though extremely rare, cardiac myxoma may be involved as an underlying factor for occlusion of central retinal artery.
