Abstract Purpose:Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by the formation of inflammatory plaques on the skin. Recently, biological therapies using monoclonal antibodies have been developed. Although the association of cardiovascular disease or arteriosclerosis with psoriasis is known, its association with retinal vascular disease is unclear. Herein, we report a case of retinal artery occlusion associated with psoriasis.

Case:A 55-year-old woman was referred to our clinic due to a finding of white retinal artery in her left eye. At initial visit, decimal visual acuity of the left eye was 1.2. She previously had psoriatic arthritis and had received adalimumab treatment at the department of dermatology. Because an adverse effect due to adalimumab was suspected, adalimumab was switched to ixekizumab. Ten months after the initial visit, the patient developed retinal artery occlusion with blurred vision in her left eye, though the decimal visual acuity remained 1.2. Despite detailed examination, the occlusion area spread 1 week later. The decimal visual acuity of the left eye remained 0.4 after treatment.

Conclusion:Cases of retinal vascular disease associated with psoriasis warrants special attention.
