硝子体手術後に補助手段として用いられるシリコンタンポナーデのために，シリコンナイル注入器を制作して紹介した。なお本器を用いての注入法を具体的に，水—シリコン交換法，空気—シリコン交換法についてのべた。
To facilitate fluid-silicone oil and airsilicone oil exchange in the vitreous, we developed a motordriven, variablespeed silicone oil injector. It can used as adjunct to both fullfunction and threeport vitreous surgery instruments. Danger of collapse of eyeball can be minimized with the use of this injector. Preliminary trials in cases requiring fluidsilicone oil and airsilicone oil exchange proved satisfactory and was free of complications. The unit provides a safe and easy means infusing liquid silicone.
