Cataract surgery by phacoemulcification

　1980年4月より1982年6月までに行ったKPE手術を可能な限りビデオに収録し，超音波使用時間，液量，前房内挿入時間，前房内挿入回数，全体の縮瞳率，超音波使用中の縮瞳率の6項目につき検討した。

　超音波使用時間，液量，前房内挿入時間は硬度の上昇につれて増加したが，前房内挿入回数には差を認めなかった。インドメタシン点眼併用にて，術中および超音液破砕中の散瞳保持が認められた。

From the videotaped recording of 142 cases of Kelman's phacoemulcification surgery performed by for resident in training, an analysis including US time, insertion time, insertion frequency, amount of infusion, and rate of pupil constriction were per-formed.

The US time, infusion amount, and insertion time were found to be proportional to the hardness of the lens nucleus, while the insertion frequency showed no significant difference.

The effect of indomethacin application before surgery to keep the pupil dilated was cleary recog-nized.
