Because of the large torsional effect of superioroblique, excyclodeviation is expected in superior oblique palsy. Torsional diplopia, however, is an uncommon complaint among patients with superior oblique palsy. To investigate the reason why pa-tients are frequently asymptomatic, quantitative measurement of subjective and objective cyclodevia-tion was performed in 11 cases of superior oblique palsy with the use of a Fundus Haploscope.

The Fundus Haploscope consists of a pair of infrared television cameras and a haploscope. Therefore, subjective and objective cyclodeviation can be measured under the same conditions.
