We evaluated the dark adaptation curves in 3 cases with a stationary from of fundus albipun-ctatus. The second phase of the dark adaptation curve was expressed by an exponential function and the time constant was calculated by the least square method. The time constants in the present series were 3.4 to 6.6 times longer than in normal subjects. It was thus proven that the abnormality in dark adaptation in fundus punctatus is due to the slower regeneration of rhodopsin.

No differences were observed in the time constant of the second phase of dark adaptation between normal subjects and patients with pigmentary retinal dystrophy.
