Initial Dark Adaptation Curve

I．まえがき

　明順応から暗順応に移るときの眼の感度の変動は，瞬時判別域（instantaneous threshold）と呼ばれ，視覚機構を解明するにはきわめて重要な意味をもつている。

　この種の実験は，古くはBlanchard, Hartline，Graham, Boyntonらにより深く研究されている。とくに，初期暗順応に関しては，1918年J．Blanchard^1）によって初めて行なわれた。彼の実験は満足すべきものではなかつたが，明順応で種々の強度，色について行なつた瞬時判別域は，視覚において桿状体と円錐体との機能差を示した。その後Hecht^2）により1937年再検討され，ほぼ同様な結論に達した。ついで1947年Crawford^3）は順応光の変化の前後の視覚状態の変化を測定した。最近においては，H．　D．　Baker^4），　R．　M．Boynton^5）らにより行なわれた。

The threshold curve for dark adaptation during the initial few seconds after transition from light-adapted to dark-adapted state was. studied in two healthy test subjects with the use of automatic adaptometer constructed by the authors.

Just after cessation of light adaptation, an acute rise in threshold value was observed. The finding is interpreted as due to inhibitory effect of the foregoing photic conditioning.

Two types of initial dark adaptation curve were identified according to the level of fore-going photic conditioning.
