  • Look Inside

The fatigue phenomenon in measurements of laser interference visual acuity was examined in 36 patients (42 eyes) with recovered optic neuritis. During the five minute test period, a rapid fall off in the grating visual acuity was found in all cases at an average luminance of 1500 cd/m2. Reducing the luminance to 250 cd/m2, which corresponded to the ,Japanese Standard of Luminance for official work, still resulted in a time-based fall off in acuity in 6 out of 36 cases.

There was no relationship between the fatigue phenomenon of laser visual acuity and the defects in Ttibinger's static central field or VECP latency delay.
