  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The clinical value of the measurement of spatial contrast sensitivity using laser interference fringes was compared with that of the visual fields and the examination of retinal nerve fiber layer under red-free light in third neuron disorders such as optic neuropathy (42 eyes) or glaucoma (12 eyes), which have an visual acuity of more than 1.0 by conventional measurements.

There were no differences in the decreasing pattern of the contrast sensitivity between optic neuropathy and glaucoma.
