  • Look Inside

A 50-year-old female had been diagnosed as progressive systemic scleroderma 2 years before and had been under systemic D-penicillamine treatment, 400 mg daily, for the past 10 months. She developed an extensive hemorrhagic detach-ment of the pigment epithelium followed by an intense vitreous hemorrhage within 2 weeks. Dis-seminated atrophic choroidal lesions were present in the left eye. It appeared that the progressive systemic scleroderma served as one of the causes for impaired choroidal vessels or the barrier system between the choroid and the retina.
