　1978年9月より1年11ヵ月間に行ったclosed vitrectomyの手術例よりopen skyvitrectomy，瞳孔形成，外傷眼における前眼部整復を目的とした手術をのぞき，67例71眼に行ったclosed vitrectomyの成績を報告した。

　手術例は糖尿病性網膜症による硝子体出血23例26眼，その他の原因による硝子体出血，硝子体混濁34例35眼である。

　糖尿病性網膜症に対しては69.2％の成功率，他の症例に対しては82.8％の成功率が得られた。

A report is given concerning the results of closed vitrectomy through the pars plana in a consecutive series of 71 eyes during the past 2 years. Vitreous cutter (Grieshaber) was used throughout. The operated cases included vitreous hemorrhage due to diabetic retinopathy (26 eyes), non-diabetic vitreous hemorrhage (24), retinopathy of prema-turity ( 1 ), malignant glaucoma ( 1 ) and retinal detachment ( 9 ). Improvement in visual acuity resulted in 69% in diabetic group, in 83% in non-diabetic group and in 10% of retinal detachment.
