  • Look Inside

We evaluated the outcome of cataract surgery in 129 eyes (83 cases) with Behçet's disease and in 41 eyes (23 cases) with protracted Harada's disease.

An improvement in visual acuity resulted in 109 eyes (84. 5%) with Behçet's disease after surgery. The postsurgical vision was generally poorer in patients under 29 years of age than in those over 30 years. The presence of central fixation and positive ERG response was an indication for favorable postsurgical vision. Cataract surgery in itself did not seem to significantly influence the severity or frequency of ididocyclitic attacks after surgery.
