  • Look Inside

A partial eclipse of the sun was observed on October 2, 1978 in Japan.

Sixteen patients (aged 7-17, 27 eyes), had suffer-ed from the eclipse retinopathy and visited oph-thalmologists in Niigata prefecture. They were followed up for 1 to 12 months after the eclipse. The impaired visual acuity with correction ranged from 0.3 to 1.2. Fortunately, it improved to normal level within several months in all eyes.

The longer the duration of the sun observation, the longer it took for recovery of visual acuity.
