Aqueous humor dynamics in the exfoliation syndrome

緒言

　exfoliation syndrome （以下，本症と略）には高頻度に嚢性緑内障（glaucoma capsulare）を合併することが知られている。嚢性緑内障の発症機序については，なお議論のあるところであるが，落屑片（exfoliative flakes）による隅角線維柱帯細孔（trabecular pore）の閉塞が原因となつて起こる続発緑内障であるとする見解が有力である^1〜5）。

　わたくしは，本症の臨床所見，特に房水動態について検討したので，その結果について報告する。

The exfoliation syndrome is characterized by a significantly higher incidence of open-angle glau-coma (glaucoma capsulare). It has been disputed whether the glaucoma capsulare is to be regarded, by nature, as primary or secondary glaucoma. According to one school, the glaucoma is caused by mechanical obstruction of the outflow channels by exfoliative materials. According to another, it is a form of primary glaucoma occurring in patients with the exfoliation syndrome. In the present study, the aqueous humor dynamics in eyes with this condition was compared with that in normal controls.
