Familiar congenital ophthalmoplegia is uncommon in Japan. The authors reported cases of sister and brother with congenital ptosis who showed abnormal ocular movements.

Case 1, a female aged 11 years, and Case 2, a male aged 10 years, the visual acuity of the sister was r. : 0.08 (0.6 ×-3.5D. ),

1:0.3 (0.8 × -3.5D.) and that of the brother was r. : 0.7 (1.0 × -0.5D. )

1:0.7 (0.8 × -0.5D.). They had not specific finding with internalmedical examinations. They had disturbances of accommodation (1/3~1/4 of normal value). The ocular move-ments were very limited in all directions, especially on elevation.
