The new sulfa preparation Merian (sulfaphenazol) was experimentally and clinically tested and the following results were obtained :

1. When it was administered to rabbits per os in the dosis of 0.5~ 1.Og per kg, the concentration in blood rose to the maximum in 4 to 6 hours and the level of effective concentration in blood was maintained even 12 hours after the administration. Its acetylization was considerably more rapid than when applied to human subjects.

2. The concentration in the aqueous humor in the same experiment rose to the highest in 4 to 10 hours, the peak lagging some what after that of the concentration in blood.
