視束炎に対するACTH点滴静注法の効果

Intravenous Use of Corticotropin in the Treatment of Optic Neuritis

緒言

　眼科領域において副腎皮質ホルモンの局所的応用が可能であり，かつ前眼部炎症に卓効を奏するところから，これらのホルモンは早くから使用されている。一方副腎皮質ホルモンの局所的応用の後眼部疾患に対する効果には自から限界があり，従つてこれらの疾患に対しては，脳下垂体一副腎皮質ホルモン即ちACTH，コーチゾン，プレドニゾロン等の全身的応用が必要となつて来る。私共の教室においては，後眼部炎症に対し，Sayers（1949）によつて始められたACTHの点滴静注法を施行し，その多くの疾患に卓効を認めて来た。今回は視束炎に対する効果に就て報告したい。

Optic neuritis was treated by intravenous drip of ACTH and results obtained as follows :

The marked visual improvement was observed in six in eight cases of acute retrobulbar neuritis, in all of five cases of papillitis, and in six in fourteen cases of chronic retrobulbar neuritis, whereas four cases of Leber's disease did not exhibit any beneficial response although these cases were treated in very early stadium.
