Problems about the initial symptoms of trachoma

緒言

　三井氏^1）がトは感染後約1週間の潜伏期の後，急性濾胞性結膜炎の症状で始まるもので，従来慢性に発病しその発病の初期を知らないとされていたが，それは全く誤りである事が証明された云々と，本邦眼科学会に大きな波紋を投じ，又その後の宿題報告^2）に於いても更にこの点を強調し，多くの人の支持を得た事は一般の記憶する処であるが，私がそれに対して疑義を唱え，又反対して来た事も周知の処である。而してその何れがトの真の姿をうたつたものであるか，この点を明らかにする事は吾々に課せられた重要な課題と云うべきであるが，私は数年来トの症候名説を主張しておる立場から私の強調する処を更に明らかにしておきたいと思う。

There should be, therefore, a great many cases even of the symptoms in the eary stage of the onset, that is, occasionally starting with acute symptoms, but mostly insidious attack.

The auther refutes, from these view points, to Dr. Mitsui's standpoints in which all trachoma starts with acute symptoms.
