Panophthalmitis of a man aged 52, caused from iron-perforative trauma, turned out that its causative bacterium was B. subtilis from the author's streak, cultivation and experiment. The animal experiment of infusing physiological saltwater-diluted solution of B.subtilis seperated from the focus into the vitreous of a normal rabbit resulted in typical Panophthal-rnitis. B. subtilis showed the greatest sensibility against Streptomycin and the order of its sensibility was such as Chloromycetin, Aureomycin and Terramycin. Penicillin and sulfani-lamide showed no sensibility against B. subtilis.
