  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A 2-year-old girl presented with swelling of eyelids, fever and vomiting since the day before. She had suffered from conjunctival laceration inthe same eye one month before. We suspected endophthalmitis due to the presence of conjunctival abscess. Vitrectomy was performed immediately. Culture of vitreous conjunctival samples showed Pasteurella multocida, a Gram-negative bacillus commonly found in the upper respiratory tract in humans and animals. While details of conjunctival laceration are unknown, it appeared that the end-ophthalmitis was the result of scratch of a cat kept in the home of the patient.
