緒言

　ガス壊疽菌群による全眼球炎は，欧米では時にその報告が見られるが，本邦ではきわめて稀なものである。

　ガス壊疽菌群のうちClostridium perfringensによつて起こつた全眼球炎の症例について，その特異的な所見を述べ，あわせて本症に関する文献的考察を試みた。

The occurrence of panophthalmitis due to gas gangrene organisms is held to be extremely ra-re. The present paper deals with a case of Clos-tridium perfringens infection of the eyeball which developed following perforation of the cornea by a foreign body.

The clinical features of the panophthalmitiswere characterized by rapid development of the infection within the globe, formation of ring abscess in the cornea, hypopyon, air bubbles in the anterior chamber and multiple small haemor-rhages of the bulbar conjunctiva.
