緒言

　網膜剥離の手術的療法にさいして，術前に罹患眼に存在する種々の合併症が，手術の施行を困難にし，また術中，術後に生ずるいろいろな合併症は，手術の遂行を困難にしたり，術後の治癒過程に悪影響を与え，術後経過を複雑にしたり，さらには手術成績を不良にすることがある。今回われおれは，最近4年間に本院眼科において行なわれた網膜剥離手術をふりかえつて，これら合併症の種類，頻度，発生原因や，手術成績に及ぼす影響を調査した。また，合併症の発生を少なくする対策や，合併症に遭遇したときにとるべき処置について，われわれの経験をもとに検討した。

　本篇では，術前に存在する合併症とその処置についてのべ，術中に生ずる偶発症^1），術後の合併症^2）については別稿にのべた。

Complications in retinal detachment surgery were analysed in 525 eyes of retinal detach-ment, which were operated on in our clinic during the past four years through 1968 to 1972.

In this paper, preoperative complications and their managements for retinal detachment sur-gery were discussed.

Difficulty of visibility of the fundus was themost common complication. Maximal mydriasis should be obtained by repeated instillation of strong mydriatics and subconjunctival injection of epinephrine (Bosmin).
