学童1万名眼科学校健康診断の経験

Ocular Examination on 10,000 School Children

緒言

　東京都保谷市教育委員会の要請により，市内全小学校，中学校の1971年度，1972年度の春季学校健康診断を順天堂大学が行なつた。保谷市は東京郊外の住宅地で，人口87,860のコミュニティであるが，地域の眼科医の不足から順天堂大学が向う5年間眼科校医として学校検診を受け持つことになつた訳である。大学の眼科がこのような集団の校医を受け持つたということはおそらく初めてのことで，意義あることと思う。

　学校検診には問題が多いが，これをできるだけ理想的に行なうにはどうしたらよいか，学校保健のあり方を考えるための基礎資料をつくる目的も考えながら，学校現場でのスクリーニング，眼科医による精密検査および事後措置をわれわれが一貫して行なつたので，ここに報告する。

The school health program in Hoya City in the suburbs of Tokyo is reported here. Ophthal-mologic examinations were carried out on 7989 elementary school children from 6 years old to 12 years old and 2700 middle school children from 13 years old to 15 years old, from May 17 to June 2 1971.

1) Uncorrected visual acuity of 9 eyes (1.7 %) out of 526 eyes turned out to be 6/12 or less by orthoptists which had been found tobe 6/6 or better by school nureses. Uncorrected visual acuity of 6 eyes (1.1%) out of 526 eyes turned out to be 6/6 or better by orthoptists, which had been screened to be 6/8 or less by school nurses.
