  • Look Inside

An unusual occurrence of chorioretinal lesion by subretinal filariasis is reported.

A gradually migrating scotoma in the upper visual field OD had been present for 1 month by a 41-year-old male. In the corresponding fundus area, a thread-like and yellowish-trans-lucent worm was detected and showed wrig-gling and coiling motion in the subretinal space. The worm was 13~18 ram long and 0.2~0.4 mm in diameter. It was considered to be an imma-ture filarioidea.

At the time of the first observation, the wo-rm was found in the lower nasal quadrant and migrated to the upper temporal quadrant 2 wee-ks later.
