Pv Tonography

はじめに

　今から20年前に開発されたTonography^1）2）は段々と普及し，今では世界中で広く使われている。眼の房水動態とか，緑内障の問題点を明らかにしたTonographyの功績は高く評価されているが，その反面，Tonographyには誤差が多く，測つた房水流出率とか，房水産生率はあまり信用できないという事実を否定することはできない^3）。

　この20年の間に，沢山の人がTonography法を改良して，信頼するに足る房水流出率とか，産生率を測ろうと試みたが，Tonographyの誤差をうまく追放することはできなかつた。

P_v tonography means, by definition, a cons-tant pressure tonography carried out at the IOP level same as the extraocular venous pressure.

The tonographic procedure is as follows:

1) Compression of the eyeball for a few minutes. After adequate compression, the IOP assumes the same value as P_v and the aqueous humor ceases to flow out of the eyeball.

2) Measurement of the rate of aqueous volume increase in the eye (S). The rate S expresses the aqueous formation rate at the IOP level same as the P_v.

3) Calculation of total outflow facility (C_tot･p0) from S, P_v and P₀.
