  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Twenty-five subjects with epidemic keratocon-junctivitis were treated by topical instillation of exogenous interferon. Treatment was initiat-ed within one to three days after appearance of initial signs of inflammation. In cases for whom interferon administration was started early enough, the conjunctival irritation disap-peared within 7 days. When the treatment was started later, it took a maximum of ten days before the conjunctival irritation subsided. In all cases treated, the possible occurrence of cor-neal complication could be prevented.
