流行性角結膜炎の感染予防について

Prophylaxis of Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis

はじめに

　流行性角結膜炎については1959年の日眼総会において，宿題報告として三井，杉浦，大石らによつて大きくとり挙げられた。またその後も数多くの研究がなされ，その治療や感染予防について多くの報告がされている。しかし，現在もなおその流行におとろえをみせていない。

　昨年，私達はウイルス増殖抑制因子^1）（インターフェロン）を流行性角結膜炎の治療，および予防を目的として局所的に使用し，その結果を報告した。この前回の臨床実験においてインターフェロンは本疾患の予防に効果的であると考えられたので，今回は家族内感染の予防のみを目的として投与を行なつた。また，本疾患の第一の感染源と考えられる院内感染を防ぐ目的で，消毒法についても実験を行なつたのでその結果を報告する。

A total of 41 family members of patients with epidemic keratoconjunctivitis were treated by topical Internferon obtained from human leuco-cytes as a prophylactic procedure. As a control, 64 famliy members of patients with EKC were followed up without any treatment.

Out of the 41-member group treated by topical Interferon, only 5 subjects developed epidemic keratoconjunctivitis, while the disease appeared in 48 out of 64 subjects that did not receive prophylactic treatment with Interferon. Further, the severity of the epidemic keratoconjunctivitis was less pronounced in the first group.
