A clinical study was conducted to assess the value of Cyplegin (Cyclopentolate hydroch-loride) for the determination of refraction. Cy-plegin (1% solution) was instilled in otherwise normal eyes with wide angle in 42 patients for practical refraction under cycloplegia. Following findings have been obtained.

1. Satisfactory cycloplegic effect set in 45 mi-nutes after instillation and lasted for 4 hours. The residual accommodation one hour after in-stillation averaged 1.95 diopters.

2. The facility of outflow showed a decrease to an average of 49.5% and the intraocular pressure showed a slight rise by an average of 19.3%.
