A statistical study was made on 284 patients by traffic accidents seen at the Department of Ophthalmology, Tohoku University, School of Medicine, between 1956 and 1969.

A statistical study on ocular injuries by a broken piece of front glasses of motor car was also made.

The results were as follows :

1) The patients by traffic accidents accounted for 1.1% out of the patients between 1966 and 1969.

Ocular injuries accounted for 64.4% out of the patients by traffic accidents.

2) The highest incidence was observed bet-ween 20 and 29 years of age. The incidence was 82% in male and 18% in female.
