I．緒言

　眼底カメラは現代の臨床医学においては欠くことのできないもので，応用価値はきわめて大きい。その技術開発には近年目覚しいものがある。

　眼の光学系はあまり高級なものでなく，ほとんど単一レンズと考えてよい。したがつて眼底カメラのレンズ系の性能をむやみに上げても意味がない。現在各種眼底カメラが市販されているが，そのいずれをとつてもほとんど類似した画質の眼底写真を得ることができる。

Basic concepts on the construction of a newhand-held fundus camera (Olympus FRC ) and as preliminary report of its clinical use are presented. As a special feature of the apparatus, a half-size camera, Olympus-Pen F was employ-ed to take photographs the ocular fundus.

Following advantages are ascribed to the new fundus camera. It is portable and be used for bed-ridden patients in supine as well as in erect position. The camera possesses the merit that the size of the photographs to be taken is half that of the standard 35 mm format.
