Cyclic Oculomotor Paralysis

　1884年Rampoldiが，上眼瞼と内直筋および瞳孔括約筋が一定の周期で痙攣と弛緩を反復するきわめて奇妙な1症例を報告して以来，cyclic oculomotor Paraly—sis，またはcyclic oculomotor spasmなど種々の名称で現在に至るまで80余年の間に44の症例が報告されている。

　この奇妙な周期現象は昼も夜も，また睡眠時も常に起きており，その周期はほぼ20〜30秒程度のものが多く，その痙攣と弛緩の様相は，きわめて類型的で確一的であるため，その病因および周期発生機序に関し興味ある多くの推論が提示されている。

A typical case of left congenital cyclic oculo-motor paralysis in a 9-year-old boy was re-ported.

The authors believed that the condition was due to a partial destruction of the oculomortor nucleus and the adjacent area. The muscles, in-volved in the cyclic phenomena, were all reffered to the function called as near convergence. So the authors supposed the destructed synaptic relations might be closely related to the center of near convergence.
