Photocoagulation of the rabbit retina was conducted with argon gas laser which is cha-racterized by monochromatic emission of 488.0 and 514 nm (green), C. W. mode and coheren-cy. The T. A. value, (transmittance of the optic media)×(rate of absorption by the reti-na), stands at 75% nad is roughly comparable with that for ruby laser. Effective coagulation effect was obtained in the retina of the pig-mented rabbit at the output of 100mw applied for 30 m. sec.~,1 sec. In contrast to coagulation with ruby laser, argon laser caused marked destruction of the retina and showed no changes
