  • Look Inside

Thirteen eyes with juvenile glaucoma (10ca-ses) and 12 eyes with steroid-induced ocular hypertension (10 cases) were studied as to the effect on tonographic parameters induced by i.v. administration of 500mg Acctazolamide (Diamox).

1. In all cases studied, hypotensive effect set in after the injection. The amount of IOP re-duction after one hour averaged 7.5mmHg in juvenile glaucomas and 9.1mmHg in steroid glaucomas.

2. The reduction in outflow pressure after one hour averaged 37% from the pretreatment level in juvenile glaucomas and 50% in steroid glaucomas. The value for Pv was assumed at 10rnmHg.
